   ドミニカ共和国出身のジャズ・ピアニスト、ミシェル・カミロとフラメンコ・ギタリスト、トマティート（ホセ・フェルナンド・トーレス）のデュオ・アルバム。２人は99年にコンビを組んでツアーを行ない日本にもやってきたが、これはツアーの総決算ともいえる99年８月、ニューヨークにおけるスタジオ録音盤である。
   タイトル曲はチック・コリアの人気曲で、本作の狙い・意図はこの曲に集約されている。要するにジャズとフラメンコの合体である。チックがこの曲を書くにあたってヒントにしたのがロドリーゴの「アランフェス協奏曲」だったのは有名な話だが、ここではその「アランフェス~」をタイトル曲のイントロに使っており（<1>）、心憎い演出だ。ほかに両者のオリジナル、アルゼンチン出身のギター奏者ルイス・サリナスの曲、さらにおなじみの<3>も取りあげていて、選曲はバラエティ豊か。ジャズとフラメンコの融合は昔からさまざまな人が試みているが、成功率はそれほど高くない。本作は数少ない成功例のひとつだ。（市川正二）

とにかくすばらしいアルバムです。ライブも最高でしたし。カミロの超絶テクと超絶リズム感にトマティートの情熱的でロマンティックなフラメンコギターが絡み合っています。録音も大変きれいな響きの多い録音で、特にギターの音が最高です。「Spain」をはじめ、「Besame Mucho」などから、アルゼンチンタンゴなどバリエーションも豊富です。BGMにも良いですし、まじめに聞いても味がどんどん出てきます。ドライブにもグッドです。

ミシェル・カミーロの名前は某パソ通から派生（？）した某フュージョンサイトで超絶技巧ピアニストが居る、という紹介記事で知っていたがどうにも今まで手が出なかった。が、一番最初に買うならこのアルバムだと決めていた。で、買って聞いて思った。な~んで今まで躊躇してたんだ！色々な人が絶賛しているように、このアルバムは、ＪＡＺＺ／Ｆｕｓｉｏｎ史上最も重要な一枚の長い列に加わった事を確信した。ドミニカ出身のインテリピアニストが馳せたラティーノへの郷愁、望郷、その思いを稀代のナイロンギタリスト・トマティートの力がプラスアルファされ、廻りで繰り広げられる酒と煙草とフラメンコ（藁）の非現実的ビジョンの中に聞く者を誘い込んでくれます。そして２人の熾烈な闘いはライブ感を否が応でも盛り上げている。アルバムタイトルはスペイン、勿論本家ロドリーゴのリスペクトもありますが、自分は実はタイトルトラックより、アルゼンチン出身のギタリスト、ルイス・サリナスが提供している、Aire de Tango、Tango Para Troilo y Salganには聞き惚れた。思わず涙ぐんでしまう程のパトスがある。ところで、その２曲はサリナスの１ｓｔアルバムで（ＧＲＰのは２ｎｄ）も聞けるので聞き比べてみるのも一興かと思いますよ。諸兄姉。

Jazzのデュオアルバムとして歴史に残ってもおかしくない名盤だと思う。
ミシェル・カミロといえば、超絶技巧（古いな俺も）で名を馳せた人。
超絶技巧と聞けば、アンサンブルに難があるのではと思う人もいるかもしれないが、このアルバムに関して言えば二人の呼吸はパーフェクト。
一昨年、(2000年)Blue Noteにこのアルバムのライブを聞きにいったが、

ライブでもアルバムと同じ完成度で演じきって圧倒されました。
ほんとはJazzという狭いジャンルを飛び越えて、もっとメジャーになってもおかしくない人です。
