横浜ラストダンス＠2000年では、終演後アリーナ席のあちらこちらで、
こっそり涙をぬぐっている男の子がみられて印象的でした。
その晩わたしも友達とイカ天時代のビデオを見て泣きました。
このアルバムは変拍子の曲が多く、好きなのでたまりません。
VIOLET　FIZZとスクラッチは中でもお奨めです。
歌詞も退廃的で、切迫した感じがして素敵。

赤いタンバリンとロメオといったヒット曲も入っているので、
ブランキー初心者にいいかも。
小さな恋のメロディ、
幸せな人もいい曲ですよ。

ジャケットは野球なのだ。ピッチャー浅井、キャッチャー中村、バッターは照井。格好はジージャンやチェーンなどロッカーのままなのに、広い球場で楽しく３人だけで野球をしてる。「そんなに野球が好きだったのか？ブランキー」と叫びたくなってしまうこのアルバムだが、サウンドは表情豊か。ステージでは定番の『ロメオ』『ぼくはヤンキー』『パイナップルサンド』などスピード感のある曲があるかと思えば、『君の手のひらに』のようにギターが悲しく泣いてるスローな１曲もある。しかし、何と言ってもイチオシは『小さな恋のメロディ』だろうなぁ。曲のタイトルと同名のこの映画を「観たことがないなら早く観たほうがいいぜ」と主張するブランキー。行くあてのない自分の今を語るこの曲、カラオケで歌うと!なぜだか、とてもせつなくなる。ぜひ聴いてみて。

もともとシンプルで研ぎ澄まされた音作りだったブランキー、
ロメオの心臓では様々な効果音、Ｓ・Ｅ、極めつけは中村達也の
ドラムを排し打ち込みをサンプリングするまで実験的な手法を
取り入れている。一部からは批判が多いがこれはこれで最高だ。
もともと歌詞の世界観が映画のワンシーンを思い浮かばせるほど

だからその世界へと具体的に引き込んでくれる。
パイナップルサンドのパトカーの音なんて退廃した深夜の街を思わせ
、ドブネズミ、ハツカネズミは悲しい。
VIOLET FIZZなんかは不思議な世界だ。



このアルバムはサウンドトラックって言われるけど
そんな感じでじっくり聞き込んでその世界に浸る、すると
本当に一本の映画のようでトータルで聴き終わった後、
いい満足感が頭を流れている。
