エンケンは水戸でライブを見たことがある。ライブのあとサインももらった。背中にアンプをしょって二宮賢二郎としてアンコールにこたえていたがそのライブでみた満足できるかなとか待ちすぎた僕はとても疲れてしまったなど名曲が盛りだくさん。ハードフォークの代表曲であろう満足できるかなのバックは完全にはっぴいえんどの三人、その他の曲でもバッキングを勤めている。この時代のいいアルバムははっぴいえんどが関わっている事が多い。ギターとハーモニカだけの曲でさえ退屈させない出来で、日本のフォークがこういう形で進化してればダサさのないフォークミュージックが出来ていたんじゃないかと思わせるアルバム。

三島由紀夫が亡くなって３５年ですね。エンケンさんの「カレ−ライス」を聞くと当時の若い人たちの、時代のヒ−ロ−を失ってしまった大きな喪失感・やりきれなさ・悲しみというものがどれほどのものであったか感じとることができます。この曲、何回聞いても歌詞がずば抜けていると思います。僕は「鏡子の家」と「宴のあと」が好きです。静かに黙とうしよ。

当時の状況についてはよく知らないんです。でも、このはっぴいえんどの協力を得て制作された遠藤賢司のフォークには、同世代の共感を得て〈セルアウト〉していくフォークとはちがいますね。表現が煮詰められているとともに対象に対して距離を置いたかたちで、三島のほか、ネコ、ぼく、きみという題材は四畳半的なものでありながら、それらのあいだの愛情と葛藤が四畳半的な叙情性を排してつづられていきます。日本のニール・ヤングですね。
同じアーティストでも、情熱の人という現在に至るイメージを確立した『東京ワッショイ』東京ワッショイ(紙ジャケット仕様)と聴き比べて見るとおもしろいです。

デジタル・リマスターされていないのが残念です。結局はレーベルにリマスターさせられない日本のリスナーがいけないとはいえ、星ひとつ減点。
