演奏そのものはオーソドックス乍ら、名手揃いのニューヨークらしいシュア―な演奏が光る一枚。シノーポリの手腕にも脱帽ですが、この録音には曰くつきのエピソードが…この時期、シノーポリはフィルハーモにア管弦楽団の常任指揮者で精力的にレコーディングをしていたはずが、恐らくはシノーポリ自身の契約の絡みもあったせいか、何故かニュ-ヨークとの録音となったみたいです。が、これに激怒したのがフィルハーモニアのメンバー。なんとシノーポリの留守中に他から指揮者を呼んできて、ローマ三部作をレコーディングしてしまいました！ＣＨＡＮＤＯＳレーベルからこのＣＤはリリースされてますので、聴く価値アリですよ！裏切られた怨念を音楽にぶつけた、エネルギッシュな演奏で、全編に渡り超ハイテンションなレスピーギワールドを堪能できます…興味のある方は、２枚買って聴き比べるのも面白いですよ！
