私はカラヤンが残した運命の記録の中で、この1977年盤が最も好きです。もちろん運命に関してはどの年代のものの当たり外れなく素晴らしいのですが、中でもこの演奏はそれまでカラヤンの特徴とされていたトスカニーニ張りのダイナミックで力強い演奏の上に70年代特有の繊細華麗さが加わり、まるでルーベンスやベラスケスのバロック絵画を観ているようです。
