小学校のときにピアノを習っていたけれど、自分はあまり面白く思えなかった。
そんなときにテレビでオピッツさんのベートーベンの「悲愴」第一楽章の演奏を初めて聴きたとき、
今まで何を聞いても同じにしか感じなかった自分がその激しい旋律にのりのりになっていて、自分もこんな曲弾いてみたい！と思った曲。
彼が引く第１楽章はとにかくくせがなく、切れのある弾き方なので、聞いてて気持ちがいい。
「月光」や「熱情」の終楽章もそうだけど、旋律は単調なのにベートーベンの曲ってなぜかスカッとする曲が多いと思う。

ｵﾋﾟｯﾂはﾍﾞｰﾄｰｳﾞｪﾝ､ｼｭｰﾏﾝ､ﾌﾞﾗｰﾑｽを主なﾚﾊﾟｰﾄﾘｰにしているが､今回の３大ｿﾅﾀはやはり凄かった！ことに､一番影響を受けたと自身が語る､ｳﾞｨﾙﾍﾙﾑ･ｹﾝﾌﾟの存在が大きいことはこのﾍﾞｰﾄｰｳﾞｪﾝに於いてよく現れている。しかしケンプよりは技術が安定していて聴く者に不安感を与えないのがいかにもオピッツらしい。ことに悲愴の冒頭の迫力と終楽章の爽快感、月光の旋律美の見事さと、終楽章の緊迫感、そして熱情における深み、緊張、雄大さ、どれもが他に真似できないようなオピッツ独自の演奏哲学を堪能できるCDだ。まさしく巨星が多く亡くなったドイツで、真の次世代の帝王の出現にオピッツが台頭したといっても過言でない！！
