ベーム指揮の魔笛、まさにこれこそ魔笛。
キャストのイチオシは、タミーノ役のフリッツ・ヴンダーリヒ。僅か35歳で事故死した天才テノールの、日本で手に入る数少ない作品の一つで、その歌唱は正に絶品。
パパゲーノ役ではヘルマン・プライの人気が高いようだが、このCDのフィッシャー＝ディースカウも捨てがたい。

夜の女王の声が細いのが難だが、魔笛の様々なバージョンの中では、個人的にはコレが一番のお気に入り。完璧なタミーノを聴きたかったらこれ！！

いかにも巨匠ベームらしい、ゆったりとしたテンポで、堂々とした魔笛である。
キャストが凄い。超一流どころを揃えている。
タミーノ役のフリッツ・ヴンダーリッヒが特に良い。主人公でありながら、やや性格的に弱い、損な役どころだが、素晴らしい歌唱を聞かせてくれる。

パパゲーノ役に、フィッシャー＝ディースカウを起用したところが、この演奏のポイントだろう。役不足（フィッシャー＝ディースカウは大歌手過ぎる）という異論もあるようだから、一種の冒険だったに違いない。結果的に、一味違う素晴らしいパパゲーノが出来上がった。
夜の女王のロバータ・ピータースも個人的には好き。

『標準』『原型』『基本型』『正当派』『オリジナル』など、いくつもの言葉が当てはまりそうな『お手本』のような魔笛。

クレンペラーが悠美だとか、サヴァリッシュの構成が見事だとか、ムーティーのテンポが速すぎると感じるのは、
全てこの作品が基準になっているような気がする。この作品を最初に聴いた訳でもないのに。

決して『味がない』とか『特徴がない』、『平凡』などという意味ではなく、傑作の鑑と呼べる作品。
台詞回しがかなりスムーズなため、舞台の上を演者が移動する『間(ま)』とか足音とかが聞こえないことから、

元々録音のための演奏・演技なのかも知れません。それ自体何の問題もありません。
(先入観や他人の意見による印象変化を避けるために、解説書の類は読んでませんので推測で申し訳ありません。)

好むと好まざるにかかわらず、『魔笛』を楽しむなら必聴の作品に間違いないと思います。
