録音から37年後にようやく発売されたことで有名な演奏。フリッチャイの悲劇的な最期のイメージがある分を差し引いても、これだけ悲しみの色をたたえた「悲愴」はないのではないか。一楽章や四楽章には聴いていて胸が詰まる部分が何か所もある。まるで世界中の悲しみを背負い、嗚咽と慟哭を繰り返すかのような壮絶な演奏だ。しかし、いやそれゆえに、たとえようもなく美しい…。私にとっては、「悲愴」のベスト盤は間違いなくこれ。

若くして白血病でこの世を去ったフリッチャイ。彼が病の中で一度復帰した際の録音であるという。メロディの響き、歌い方に全く無駄がなく、全ての音が強烈な意志を持って聞き手に迫ってくる。録音も年代(ステレオ初期）の割に、極めてよい。チャイコフスキーの"白鳥の歌"、それはフリッチャイ自身のそれに近い物があったのではないだろうか。悲愴のCDは様々あるが、一番泣けるのはこれではないだろうか。

音楽のレビューって難しいですね。
結局は　感性ですから。
私のチャイコフスキー　交響曲オススメは　
５番はカラヤン（1971ＥＭＩ　これも賛否両論）、６番はフリッチャイのこれです。
カラヤン、ムラヴィン、マルティノン、ゲルギエフ、モントゥー、、、、とかくオススメや自分で選んだいろいろな指揮者のを聴きましたが。。。。

私にとってはフリッチャイがその時どうであれ
彼の背景やその状況なぞ全く知らなくても　きっとこれが一番です。
指揮者はもちろんオケのめんばー各人が
音一つ一〜つ　とても丁寧に心を込めている奏でていると思います。
チャイコフスキー独特の美しさ･･･白鳥が翼を広げて羽ばたく時のような美しさもあります。

スマートとさや緻密さ専門家の方からしてテンポは好みの問題だと思います。
しかし　この演奏を聴くと自然と涙が溢れます。

フリッチャイはベートーヴェンの第９でも惚れてしまい
もっと長生きしてほしかったなぁ・・・と思ったものです。
