モーツァルトの曲の美しさを追求している。
メジャーな歌手を起用しているわけではないが、どの歌手にも指揮者のやりたいことが的確に伝わっている。夜女のアリアなど、聴き所といわれる箇所以外の細部までとことんこだわっている。それでいながら、どこかが突出しているわけではなく、むしろとてもコンパクトにまとまっている。

愛らしいパミーナ・若々しいタミーノ・躍動感溢れる侍女・オルガンのように美しい響きの童子達。
どの歌を何度聴いてもその都度新しい魔笛を発見できる。ここまでたくさんのことを詰め込んでいるのに無理はちっとも感じない。これはもう指揮者に拍手といった感じ。
魔笛を一通り知っている人がさらに魔笛を好きになるために聴く２枚目としてお薦めしたい。
