'86年までのシングルに'98年マーキュリー移籍後の2曲を加えたベスト盤。
CD1枚にコステロの名曲が収まるわけはなく、数あるベスト盤とさほど変わらない内容になってしまったのも残念な気もします。
初期の4.6.7.等がわりと有名ですが、12.16.をはじめ全曲ファンの間では常に人気上位の曲ばかりです。

最後の3曲は映画主題歌にもなって、バカラックとの共作19.はグラミーにノミネートされました。映画「グレイス・オブ・マイ・ハート」も音楽ファンにはたまらない内容でした。
'89年~'96年までのワーナー時代は抜けてしまっていますが「エクストリーム・ハニー」というコステロ自身選曲のベスト盤があります。

またイギリス盤とアメリカRHINO盤は2枚組で全時代を網羅のうえ、アルバムやシングルB面の人気曲も収録していてお得です。

皆さんがおっしゃっているようにノッティングヒルのエンディングで使われていて、大好きになった「SHE」が収録されていたので購入したアルバムです。　原曲はフランスのシャルル・アズナブールさんが歌われていた曲ですよね。　ノッティングヒルの恋人達ではオープニングにシャルル・アズナブール、エンディングにエルビス・コステロという鳥肌もんの演出でした。　なのに映画のサントラ版にはシャルルさんのが入ってなくて残念だったのを覚えています。

LPは結構持っているのですがプレーヤーがなくて、聴けない状態でした。最近あちらこちらでコステロの名前が聞かれるので、我慢できなくなって買った1枚です。ベストだけあって、好きな曲がぎゅっとつまってて大満足です。“Ｓｈｅ”が好きで聴きたいって思った人には、サントラ盤のほうが向いているかもしれませんが、コステロを知るにはとてもいいアルバムだと思います。ちなみに彼は、8月で48歳になります。
