スパークスはロン・メイル、ラッセル・メイルの二人の兄弟を中心に７０年代から現在にかけて（今も現役！）活動しています。８０年ごろからヨーロッパを中心に活動中。｢機械仕掛けのチャップリン」の異名をとるロンが作詞･作曲を手がけ、「モデル上がり」のラッセルが得意のファルセット・ヴォイス（裏声）で歌う、なんとも個性的なバンド。｢キモノ･マイ・ハウス」は彼等の代表作なのですが、とても２０年も前にリリースされたものとは思えないほど時代を感じさせない音楽性。アルバム全体のテンポが良いので聴きやすく、アマチュア・アワー、タレント･イズ･アン･アセットなどは特に今でも（今だからこそ）通用する名曲。彼等のセンスは素晴らしいとしか言いようがないです。こんなに良いのに、一般的にはあまりメジャーではないのが非常に残念。知る人ぞ知るなんてもったいないです！このレビューにたどり着いた人にはぜひ聴いて欲しいな~。

７４年のスパークスのファースト。正直言うと、何かよく分からんけどいい。ロックオペラというかジムスタインマンともクィーンとも違う感じだし、女性の様な妖しいボーカルからもロックショウと言った感じ。サタデーナイトロックショウだ。うんこれがしっくりくる。聴き応えあり。しかし今だ活動しているのが何より凄い。２０枚目のアルバムが最近出たはず。
