アメリカでは彼らの作品の中で、評価の低い作品でセールスも低い（それでもプラチナディスク）ようですが。日本やイギリスでは１位を取りました。
個人的に「New Jersey」の次に好きです、ダークな雰囲気の曲が多くてロックしてる曲が少ない気もするけどシングルになった１~５は全曲名曲！中でも特に４が最高！感動します。「CRUSH」でファンになった人にもぜひ聴いてほしいです。

日本ではアイドル人気が先行して、音楽性はあまり語られなかったこのひとたち。ずばりこれは勝負作なのだ。エクストリームが解散したのを見ればわかるが、こういったバンドに今のアメリカの音楽業界にはまったく居場所がないのが現状である。非常に厳しい。本格派が生き残れない現実。そんな状況に対して彼らは真っ向勝負で来たのだ。全体を支配するシリアスな雰囲気＋せつなさが溢れている。このアルバムは「これに負けたら後がない＝人生とはトーナメント戦」＝的な緊張感に溢れている。しかし彼等は無事危ない綱渡りを渡り切った。実に渋いロックがここにある。見事に苦しみというトンネルを抜けたね。

BON JOVIのアルバムの中でも少し路線が違うイメージのアルバムですが、すっごく好きな1枚です。
最初に聞いた時の「・・・これ、BON JOVIぢゃない・・・(･･;)」という第1印象から
聞き込めば聞き込む程、味が出てくるじっくりと長い間聞いて欲しい曲が揃っています。
シングルカットの曲はセールス的に伸びが無かった様ですが、[3].[4].[9]は本当に絶品だと思います！
ライブでノリノリという感じではありませんが、本当に良く出来たアルバムです！
