ガーディナーによるモーツァルトの「レクイエム（ＫＶ６２６、ジュスマイヤー版）」のＣＤです。「キリエ・ニ短調（ＫＶ３４１）」も併録しています。１９８６年の録音です。

少人数の合唱団とオケを駆使して、流れるように軽快で勢いのある演奏を展開しています。ボニー（ソプラノ）やオッター（アルト）らソロ歌手陣も文句なしの名唱です。もう録音から２０年近くたつのに、新鮮さを失っていないスゴみのある演奏をお楽しみください。

ガーディナーの「レクイエム」にはＤＶＤもあり、そちらもファン必見の見事な作品です。

オリジナル楽器による演奏は、ともすると学術的、研究的になりすぎ、
人間的な温かみにかけると思っているあなた、、、
この演奏は違いますよ。
とくに女声陣の清楚な歌声には心が洗われる思いですし、
さすがに長年率いてきたモンテベルディ合唱団の力量を
思い知らされる合唱のすばらしさ。
オーケストラの合奏力も申し分なく、
特に弱音部のあの透明な美しさは絶品です。

でも、本当にすごいのはむしろ「キリエ」のほうで、最初の一音で鳥肌がたったほどでした。
