ガーディナーのこの録音は弛緩もなく推進力があり、実に爽快な気分になる。また、この曲にしては意外なほどの豪快さも感じられる。まさに、名盤。PHLIP社の GREAT 50 RECORDINGS　にランクインされているのも納得。

自信を持ってお薦めいたします。

ハンデルも英国人音楽家、ガーディナーも英国人音楽家。感性がマッチするのでしょうか、非常にはつらつとして力強く、爽快な演奏です。第１組曲には追補が２曲入っていて、そのうちのひとつは、第２組曲の代表曲である「ホーンパイプ」の異調版です。
個人的には、カップリングの「王宮の花火」がかっこよくてよいと思いました。トランペットやティンパニが力強く、聴いていて元気が出てくる演奏です。

このガーディナーによる「水上の音楽」は、清涼感あふれるすばらしい演奏だ。「第１組曲」ではホルンの豪快な鳴りっぷりが楽しい。「第２組曲」のトランペットは軽やかで音量もやかましくなくていい。
夏の湯上りの夕涼みに聴くのに最高の１枚である。
