非常に繊細なペダルワークとタッチが、時にはチェンバロを、時にはオルガンを奏でているようで、他のアーティストとは一線を画すピアノプレイがとてもグルダ。
右手と左手の旋律が感じやすいので、「とりあえずバッハを聴いてみたい」という人にもお勧めです。

　平均律クラヴィーア曲集はリヒテル、グールド、コープマンを先に聴いており、それぞれ良かったのですが、出来の問題ではなく、なんとなく自分の気持ちに寄り添わないところがありました。
　ですが、この演奏には最高にはまりました。感情過多でもなくテクに走るでもなく、一音一音親しみを感じます。
　第2番のプレリュードも打ち寄せる波のように穏やかに弾かれているので、寝ながら聴いても今までのようにビクッとして飛び起きずにすみました。

　購入して一年ほど、こればっかり聴いている感じです。

1972年4月、ドイツ、MPSスタジオにて録音。インナーにはグルダ自身が『平均律クラヴィーア論』を展開していて、本録音に対するこだわりが随所に感じられる。

ぼくもご多分漏れず多大な数の演奏者の『平均律クラヴィーア曲集』を聴いてきたが、その中でも最も異色な感じがしたのがこの演奏だ。それは録音の仕方にも強く現れている気がする。ここでの録音方法や演奏手法はリヒテルの教会の残響音を利用してのアルバムのアンチ・テーゼとぼくには取れた。正にリヒテルの逆様の演奏だ。

バッハの骨格を残響音無しに強く出したい、というグルダの意思を感じる。とても濃いバッハだ。
