　カッレーラスが古典に挑戦。
イタリア人にいわせると「う~ん」（スタイル、発音）だそうで
すが、個人的には大好きな一枚です。
彼の声はファルセットがつよい独特のもので、表現力に優
れ、イタリア人による正統派古典とは少し違った聴かせ方
をしてくれます。
ひとことで言えば「甘く、影のある古典」でしょうか。

ホセ・カレラスは大好きで、来日コンサートには欠かさず足を運ぶほど、あの哀愁に満ちた声と表現力豊かな音楽性に惹かれていますが、このＣＤに関しては残念ながら★４つにしました。感情表現という点では、さすが彼らしい豊かさに満ち溢れていると思うのですが、このＣＤに収められているイタリア歌曲を連続して聴くと、彼がベルカントで歌っていないことや、イタリア人で無いが故の言葉の壁（微々たるものではあるのですが）がやけに目だって感じられたからです。コンサート会場のステージ上で、高音を出す時に両足を前後に開き、まるでバスケットでドリブルをしているかのように膝を屈伸させて歌う姿を、思わず想像してしまいました（私が師事した先生によると、あの発声はドイツリートの先生がよく教えられるものとのこと）。とは言うものの、ここまで溢れんばかりの感情を音楽に乗せて表現できるカレラスは凄い！　古典をこんなにも感情豊かに歌えるのは、アリアの大曲を数々こなし、人生においてもまた苦しいことを乗り越えてきたカレラスならではだと思います。うーん、★５つでも良かったかな・・・。

余計な色をつけないで忠実に歌っており、声楽のお手本にも適しています。Sebben Crudeleはとても素敵です。
