ケタ外れのテンションの高さ(時に異様なという形容詞がつくこともあるが……)と深い自己陶酔を引っさげ、“百万人といえども我ゆかん”の気概で凡庸を蹴散らし続けて29年、まさに“不滅の男”エンケンこと遠藤賢司のニュー・アルバム。今回は、エンケン・バンドのトシ(元頭脳警察)、湯川トーベン(元子供ばんど)に加え、野口明彦(元シュガー・ベイブ)、鈴木茂などが参加したバンド・サウンドと、ギターの弾き語りをバランスよく収録。前者は賢司の突出するエネルギーをポップなビートに溶かして、心地よいロックンロールヘとまとめている。また後者は、柳のようにそよぎ震え囁きかける賢司独特のヴォーカルと官能的フィンガー・ピッキングが一体となり、名盤の誉れ高いファースト・アルバム『niyago』を思い起こさせるほど。猫はタマや子猫を含めて4匹も出てくるし、例の長いタイトルで日常生活の1コマを会話ごと切りとったスケッチ作品もあり、デビュー当時からのファンの僕も満足です!
