友部のアルバムの中でも、私がもっとも愛するアルバムである。ここにはメロディストであり詩人である友部が、比較的ポップな衣を纏った、優しいサウンドが満ちている。しかし、もちろんその音楽は時として攻撃的で、詩とともに、人の心を惑わすものも含まれており、それが無上の魅力である。冒頭の「戦死」、青山純の鋭角的なパーカッションとともに先導されて、語る様に物語が開始する。２曲目「女は男である」の前進力ある音型と逞しくも儚い詩で私達はすっかり友部の詩の世界に惹きこまれる。３曲目の「水門」は幻想的な美しい風景が目の前に展開する。なんという広大な世界。６曲目の「古い切符」は過ぎ去った夏の陽射しを感じずにはいれない。「それでは、みなさん、さようなら。一生のあいだだけさようなら」のフレーズが心に焼きつく。８曲目の「海が降る」もまた、友部の作詞能力、あやういメルヘン・ワールドの入り口だ。独特の暗い影が射す。そして終曲「夕日は昇る」で、友部らしいギターとハーモニカによる弾き語りの世界へ回帰し、静かに、ロマンティックに物語は閉じて行く。
