生涯の伴侶に是非あの風景をみせたいー。人生がうたとともにある人にとっての「心の四季」といえるでしょう。
自分が、この曲に出会うきっかけは酒造メーカーのCMでした。真田広之が日本の四季をバックに颯爽と演技をしてたんですね。華やかさの中にもなんともいえぬ「わびさび」があるような・・そんなイメージの礎はほとんどこの曲の効果によるところが大きかったです。

僕の出身は新潟なので、詩的にも大いに共感しました。雪国出身で都会にでてきてる人必携です。

ところで、山形県出身の詩人、吉野弘氏はいいました。

「関東以西、以南では雪は≪祝福≫として降る。即ち、あたりをうっすらと美しく雪化粧して、翌朝には消えてしまう。東北、北陸の雪はちがう。
十一月の終り頃降った雪は根雪となって残り、翌年の春までとけない。そしてその雪はすぐ汚れ始める。
暖房の煙や車のはねる泥やらで、その汚れを消そうとでもするように、また白い雪が降ってくる。それはまた汚れ、また降ってくる。
その雪は、時には窓から見ても隣の家も見えないほどはげしく、しかもそれがあくる日も、またそのあくる日も同じはげしさで降りつづく。
それは、まるでおさえ切れない人間の精神のようなはげしさである」と。
この曲を聴くと、僕らのような雪国の人間は冬のつらさも思い出します。

ちなみに、この詞の主題と同じものにＣ＆Ａの「水の部屋」があります。昔ＭＤにたくさんの歌手の曲を放り込んだときに、この二曲は並ばせたのを今思い出しました。ま、「水の部屋」が春、「あの頃へ」は冬、という感じですが、どちらも日本の四季の美しさを感じます。

この歌を聴いたのはCMからでした。シングルを買ってみると、シンシンと雪の降る、安全地帯の故郷北海道の冬を思わせるようなアレンジで曲がはじまり、歌詞、曲共に切なく、心臓をグーッと掴まれたような感じでした。やっぱり歌詞が最高ですね。安全地帯は松井五郎さんの話によると玉置さんが曲をデモに落として、それに松井さんが詩をつける、というプロセスなんだそうですが、このシングルに関してはなんだか逆のような気がしてならないです。私もイギリスにいた時、雪が降るのを見つめてこの歌を聴いていました。

詞も曲も本当に素晴らしい。玉置さんの歌声が心の奥底にまで沁みてきます。
真田広之が出演した月桂冠「花鳥風月」のＣＭソングとして大量にオンエアされました。
