　絶頂期に放たれた、問答無用の傑作。洋楽ファンも吹き飛ばされた。”多摩蘭坂”の叙情、”よそ者”と”まぼろし”の哀感、”Johnny Blue"の切なさが、エコーをかけた硬質のサウンドに乗って、胸をワシ掴みにする。ギターとドラムスの鳴り様が強烈で、リンコさんのベースも冴えまくり。斬新にして普遍的なロックン・ソウル・アルバム。聴く度に、言葉と音の力に圧倒される。ホントお薦め。

このアルバムが出た頃、私自身とって多感な頃であった。清志郎が発する言葉の一つ一つが心に刺さる。「そうや、その通り」と何度心の中で叫んだことか。メンバーも固定化されてバンドとしてのＲＣサクセションの安定期であったし、ライヴで何度もやられた曲と書き下ろしを混ぜて、ロックンロールとソウルをいかにもＲＣ風に仕上げている。「多摩蘭坂」は「スローバラード」と同じご当地ソング。大学受験で上京したときに渋谷でも六本木でもなく国立に観光に行き、多摩蘭坂をウォークマンIIにダビングしたカセットを再生して昇ったことを思い出す。不思議と静かという印象が強い、「よそ者」「まぼろし」「あの娘のレター」

ＲＣの最高傑作だと思います。チャボの重厚なギターとキヨシローのシャウトが最初から最後までハイテンションで絡んでます。日本のロック界では歴史に残る一枚だと思います。「よそ者」から「あの娘のレター」のバトンタッチが泣かせる構成なんですよ。「あの娘のレター」のイントロのベースが僕にはなによりロマンチックに胸に響きます。
