やはり、ライブ盤の比較となるとどうしても伝説の「横浜スタジアム」を引き合いに出さなければならないかもしれない。正直、野外特有の空気感や３万オーバーのオーディエンスの熱気等では、一歩譲ってしまうかもしれないが、このＣＤには、重複する曲が幾つかあるものの、やはり「横浜」よりも曲数が圧倒的に多いが故に、隠れた名曲がライブとして聴く事ができるのが利点だろう。

恋の予感やマスカレードの名曲は勿論だが、変則的リズムとギターのディレイ音の洗礼を受ける「ダンサー」、イントロからの爆発音のような効果音にのっけからやられる初期名曲「ラスベガス」、或いはこれでもか、という位の悲しい旋律と玉置の哀愁ボイスの「ブルーに泣いている」等このアルバムでしか聴けない隠れた名曲もまた聴き所だろう。

そして、レビュアー同様に感じるのがこのライブ盤では、とても忠実にオリジナルに沿って演奏されていると言う事だ。それは、「神宮」或いは「横浜」と聞き比べても、相当聴き込まなければ違いは分からない。確かにオリジナルと異なる即興的アレンジというのが、一般的に言われているライブ盤の楽しみであるから、その観点から見れば物足りなさは、否めないかもしれないが、それが安全地帯ならではの長所とも取ることができる。そんな中でも、「ブルーに泣いている」のラストパートのホーンセクションをキーボードにリアレンジしたりと、便宜上の微妙な変更点が目新しいのも事実。

いずれにしても、２０年近く前のライブとは、とても思えない。ツインギターのエフェクターの使い方一つ取っても、前衛的でとても洗練されている。しかもその前衛性が今にも通ずる部分が凄い。一般的に、ギタリストがエフェクターに頼り切るのは、一種の「技術隠し」としてマイナスに見られがちだが、私的には、このような巧いエフェクトの使い方も才能の一つだと思う。事実このライブ盤を聞くと、ギターのディレイ音やコーラス系の音色、或いはキーボードの使い方に至るまで、実に心地良く、古さを微塵も感じない。かと思えば、「風」のような、アコギを巧みに利用したバラードも聞き所だったりと、多面性を持合せているところも素晴らしい。

玉置の哀愁ボイスは、相変わらずでかなりのめり込める事請け合いだし、安全地帯の天才的メロディーラインと洗練されたエフェクト等、聴き所は山程ある。

トータルで見れば、「横浜スタジアム」に勝るとも劣らない事実上の８０年代ライブ盤の「名盤」と呼んで差し支えないだろう。

安全地帯のアルバムとしては初のライブ盤。当時のヒット曲も含めて選曲のバランスはいいと思います。個人的にも思い入れのある作品ですが、安全地帯を知らない人も是非一度バンドサウンドとしての独自性を聴いていただきたいです。特にギターアレンジについては余り注目されていないようですが、エフェクター及びギターシンセの使い方等含めてもっと注目されていいと思います。玉置さんの歌がいいのは当たり前としても、安全地帯としての個性はバンドサウンド、特に武沢さんのパートが醸し出しているものだと分かるいいCDです。

１８年前ある病気で手術をして入院したとき、病院でずっとこのアルバムを聞いていました。当時テープがすりきれるくらい聞いたものでした。ツィンで刻むリズムギターにのったリズムは抜群だと思います。今年また同じ病気で手術をします。久しぶりに素晴らしいリズムを病院でで楽しみたいです。
