　「理由なき反抗」のニコラス・レイ監督のデビュー作。１９４８年制作。「地獄の逃避行」、「ボニー＆クライド」を髣髴とさせるｓｔｏｒｙ。先駆的作品といえます。低予算の映画ですから、派手さ、ユーモアはありません。「ベンハー」のティルザ役（ベンハーの妹）キャシー・オドネルの初々しく寂しげな表情が印象に残ります。米国でもソフト化されていないようですけれど、そのうちＤＶＤでお値打ちに入手できるようになったら、フィルム・ノアール好きなら見る価値があります。悲恋もの好きにも向きます。
