仕事人４／仕事人５／橋掛人の３作のナレーション・曲・歌を収録のため、
バラエティ豊かな１枚です。
特に歌では、出演者の歌唱曲そろい踏み（特に古くから必殺と縁のある西崎みどりは
マニアにはうれしかった）、藤田絵美子（藤田まことの娘さん）のド演歌は必聴です。

曲では、その「さよならさざんか」のインスト「殺しのテーマ」や「出陣のテーマ」、

毎回のエンディングで主水がいびられるときにいつもかかる「中村家のせんりつ」(^_^;)
など聞き馴染んだナンバーを聴くことができます。

　必殺シリーズが「バラエティ」といわれ、「にわか仕事人ファン」を作った頃の作品である。それにより、劇場公開作やＢＧＭ集がリリースされるまでになった。トラック１９からの「５」のコーナーのみ、ステレオなのはレコード化を前提に収録がされたためである。秀＆勇次を勇退させ、昭和が６０のキリのいい数字になって、政＆竜の若手にバトンタッチ。ロックを基調に、シリーズの新機軸を音楽の点からつくろうとした努力が伺える。
　本ディスクは歌曲が充実している。「さよならさざんか」は北野都さんがカバーしているが、ここではオリジナル藤田まこと氏の実娘絵美子さんによる歌唱がきける。「哀しみ色の…」は京本ファンを普通にさせない切ないバラード。「自惚れ」はお民と秀を関係させるような歌詞だし、「もどり道」は久々に歌手として面目躍如を保った西崎みどりの歌唱である。いずれも重要シーンに流れ、映像とともに記憶に残っているものばかりである。放送終了から２０年近く経つが、仕事人シリーズ黄金期の楽曲ばかりである。
