　このDVDに収録されている劇場版1作目前半の「DEATH(TRU)」は、TV版の第1話~第24話をリミックスしたような内容になっています。そう、まさに「リミックス」であって、決して「ダイジェスト」ではありません。ほとんど、TV版を見たことがある人を前提にしたような内容と言ってもよく、この「DEATH(TRU)」だけを見てTV版のストーリーを理解できる人は、かなりのつわものと言えるでしょう（笑）。
　続く劇場版第1作目後半の「REBIRTH」は、劇場版第2作目前半の「Air」の前半部分だけ（ああ、ややこしい）の内容となっていて、「さあこれからクライマックスだ！」というところで見事に終わってくれます（公開当時、激怒したファンが多数いるとかいないとか・・・（笑））。

　真の意味でのエヴァ完結編と言えるのは劇場版第2作目の「Air」「まごころを、君に」で、これは、TV版ではワケのわからない終わり方になってしまった最終2話（第25＆26話）を本来のシナリオで描いたものになっています。ただ、これも、TV版のストーリーをよく知っていないとほとんど意味がわからないと思いますし、私は、「まごころを、君に」とTV版最終話の「世界の中心でアイをさけんだけもの」は2つで1セットと言うか、同じエピソードを違う側面から描いた、相互に補完しあう内容のものだと思いますので、この劇場版だけ見てもあまり意味がないのではないか？とも思います。

　そういうこともあって、私としては、TV版の最終2話と「Air」「まごころを、君に」を同時収録した「新世紀エヴァンゲリオンvol.7」の方が、「エヴァ」の物語としては正当な最終巻だと思っています。しかし、春と夏の2作に分けて公開され、しかも一部が重複した内容であるという、普通の映画から見るとちょっと異常とも言える形態で公開された珍しい作品として、この劇場版DVDを見る価値はあるでしょう。

内容についてはいまさら言うことはないと思います。
ただ、現時点で一般家庭で「シト新生」を見られるのはこのDVD
だけのはずです。その点では貴重なDVDであるといえるでしょう。

さらに、抽選1000名のテレフォンカードを手にしていられる方にてっても・・・。

この映画をよく失敗作だと言う人がいますが、登場人物の心の動き、映像の綺麗さなど、とても失敗などとは言えない出来です。
聖書などと絡めて解釈していくと、とても深く、そしてしっかりしたストーリーに驚くばかりです。

また、この作品の解釈を論じているWebページも多数ありますので、そちらを参考にしながら見ていくと、より一層理解が深まり良いのではないでしょうか。
とにかく、これほどの大作は稀ですので、一度は見ることをお勧めします。
