WANDS最初のベストアルバムである「SINGLES COLLECTION +6」

BEST版ということで、ほとんどの方々が＜SINGLES＞つまり、シングル曲に注目していたことでしょう。
しかし、ここで注目していただきたいのは他でもない「+6」の部分です。

+6を指している曲はシングル（A面）以外の楽曲（アルバム曲・シングルC/W曲・未発表曲）です。

Track：01「天使になんてなれなかった」
Track：05「世界中の誰よりきっと ‐Album Version‐」
Track：06「Just a Lonely Boy」
Track：07「ありふれた言葉で」
Track：08「白く染まれ」
Track：11「星のない空の下で」の6曲
このうち「白く染まれ」は未発表曲ということで、他のどのアルバムにも収録されておりません。

もう解散してから随分長い月日が経っていますが、
今聴いていても全く色褪せることのない楽曲ばかりです。

ただ、SINGLES COLLECTIONとはいうものの、全てのシングルが収録されているわけではありません。
また、このアルバムに収録されている楽曲の他にもWANDSにはたくさんの名曲があります。
このアルバムなどで少しでも興味をお持ちになられた方がいましたら、他のアルバムを集めて、
WANDSの楽曲に触れてみることをお勧めします。

96年に発売されたWANDSの最初のベストです。
と同時に、上杉昇、柴崎浩所属時最後のアルバムでもあります。
このアルバムで気になるのは、「Secret Night」「Same Side」「WORST CRIME」が収録されていないこと。
つまり、後からロック色に染まった曲を除き、完全にポップな曲だけを収録したベストとなっています。

自分は、ロックなWANDSも好きですが、ポップでも「星のない空の下で」「ありふれた言葉で」等、名曲が多くていい感じです。
ただ、アルバム全体を通して聴くと、ちょっと疲れて来ますが・・・。
今の上杉さんはポップな曲を歌わなくなってしまっているけど、
昔のようなポップな曲を聴いてみたいと言う方にはおすすめのベストアルバムです。

上杉さんの歌詞世界が私はとても好きです。上杉さんの歌詞は初期の恋愛ものから、後期に移るにつれ自問自答的な歌詞世界へとリスナーを誘います。しかしボーカルの心境が歌詞に反映されていることが伝わるからこそ、感動を与え、色あせることのない、まさに原石のような曲になるのでしょう。WANDSは私のような10 代と比較的若い世代には余り知られてないですが、捨てどころのない永遠に脈打つ良曲ばかりですので是非聴いてほしいと思います。最後に「secret night」これのSingleにしか収録されていないので入手困難ですが「KEEP ON DREAM」は傑作です。
