９８年に出た稲葉浩志の1stソロシングルです。
このCDが出た当時は、これ以前に出たアルバム「マグマ」は、まだ聴いたことがなかったので、
このCDで、初めてB'zとは違った稲葉浩志の音楽に触れました。
当時、聴いた時は、B'zとは違ったサウンドに、非常に新鮮味を感じたのを覚えています。
３曲とも、名曲で、特に歌詞の内容には心を打たれます。

現時点で、稲葉浩志のソロアルバムが２枚リリースされていますが、
残念ながら、この曲は他のどのアルバムにも収録されていません。
ですから、結構貴重なシングルだと思うので、店頭で見かけたら、
是非手にとって聴いてみてください。おすすめです。

この曲は稲葉さんのファーストソロシングルなんですが、
……アーティストのソロ活動って、たいていはもともと所属しているグループとはちょっと違った方面へ進むものなのです。
稲葉さんもその例に漏れず、ロックなB'zとは対極にある、クラシックというか……「枯れた世界」を醸し出しています。

「遠くまで」の前の「マグマ」で、その独特の「破滅的でありながらも美しい」音楽の一端をかいまみることができたのですが、「遠くまで」はその方向をさらに進めたものだと考えられます。

ストリングスの優しいイントロから始まり、

最低限でありながらも幅広いバックグラウンドにおいてボーカルを中心に展開していく世界は、二番でさらに深く、精神世界の奥へと拡大していきます。

「once upon a time in 横浜」では、四重奏のみで演奏される「遠くまで」を聴くことができますが、最低限の楽器で演奏されるメロディーがあそこまで美しく聞こえるということが、メロディー自体の完成度を象徴しています。

いつも彼の心は何かを求めてさまよい続けている。
ここにいながら、何もかもを受け入れようとしながら。
そんな彼の生き方が歌われている。

自分もそんな風に「遠くまで」！
