盟友シャルル・アズナブールをはじめ、シルヴィ・ヴァルタンやジョニー・アリディなどに多くの楽曲を提供。映画音楽の分野でもめざましい功績を残して、93年に逝去したフランスの作曲家ガルヴァランツ。これは、彼の厖大な映画音楽作品から、60年代のポップな曲を編集したもの。アズナブールの歌う「八月のパリ」やインストの「アイドルを探せ」ほか、明るく陽気なメロディから彼の飾らない穏やかな人柄が窺えると同時に、かつてのフランス映画がもっていた豊かな詩情性も伝え、馥郁たる気分にさせてくれる。 (飯塚達弘) --- 2000年05月号
