日本ではいまいち知名度の低いロイ・ウッド。何ででしょう？こんなにポップなのに。
さておきこれは名盤ですよ。１曲目「マスタード」からブリティッシュロックファンならよだれが止まりません。
２曲目「エニィ・オールド・タイム・ウィル・ドゥ」のビーチボーズ風味の甘酸っぱさにあの娘もイチコロです。

マニアを自称する方には是非聴いてもらいたいナイスソングばかり。
ジャケットはロイ自身が書いたというちょっと「アレ」な感じなんですが、中身は極上のポップミュージックです。
女房（旦那）、子供を質に入れてでも「買い」の１枚！！

７５年発表のソロとしては２作目のアルバム。ちょうどウィザードの活動としても油がのってきていた時期にあたり、絶好調といえる内容となっています。タイトル曲のマスタードは壊れかけたようなレコード・プレイヤーから聞こえてくる古臭いジャズっぽい曲となっており、このアルバムの趣向が現れた曲です。そして２曲目はおそらくロイの作品史上で最もロマンティックな名品。私自身も一番好きな楽曲かもしれません。ロイの作品はシングルはど派手にソロ名義のアルバムは内省的というのが、多いのですが、そういう意味においてもこの曲は最高の出来。もちろんアルバムとしても高水準です。全体的な雰囲気は１ｓｔソロに近いものの、よりドラマティックでアレンジ的にも熟れた作品に仕上がっています。RAIN CAME 〜 にはアニー・ハズラムが参加、美しいコーラスを聞かせています。表ジャケットのバグ・パイプを吹くロイがバカバカしくて“らしい”反面、裏ジャケではロイの写真を指差して笑っている若者というデザインになっており、単なる自虐的とは言い切れない寂しさも伝わってくる気がします。
