コーラスの使用方法からして新たなマニュアル作るってな勢いでえらい意欲的。一筋縄ではいかないっていうのはまさにこういうことをいうのだという冒頭2曲にノック・アウト。メロディもサウンドも思いっきりくすんでいるのにこんなに眩しいのはなぜだ。


内容 (「CDジャーナル・レビュー」より)

約1年ぶりの新作にして愛すべきポップ・アルバムとなっている。サウンド・メイキングについてはあれこれとひとクセある音処理を使っているのだが、そんなことよりもここに並ぶ全12曲の、古き良き時代の名盤に匹敵する楽曲の輝きにじっくりと浸っていたいと思う。
実際はどんな意図でこのアルバムを制作したのかはわからないが、彼らはかなり自然体で録音に臨んでいたのではないか、そんな気がする。とにかく、本作には気負いといったものが感じられない。逆に言えば、彼らが楽な気分で音を出したら、懐かしくも新鮮なサウンドへとベクトルが向かっていくのは、当然の結果なのかもしれない。
最近、“名盤解放同盟”をはじめとして知る人ぞ知る名盤のリイシューが活発に進んでいるが、温新知故(?)、新しきを知って古きをよりよく知るためにもこの一枚を推す。現在進行形のエヴァーグリーン作といった意味で。 (兒玉常利) --- 2000年03月号

とにかくひと口では語れないバンド、カーネーション。
鬱々と後ろ向きな曲もあれば、突然ぱーんとさわやかに夏してみせたり、ゴリゴリのグルーヴで押しまくったり。
今作はそんなカーネーションの、どちらかといえばロマンティックでセンチメンタルな部分が前面に出た作品かも。
もちろん、ゴツゴツしたカーネーションをお好きな向きには「FUNNY」「幻想列車」「LEMON CREME」のような曲も用意されてます。
ちょっとやりすぎ？な曲も、ちょっと物足りない曲もあるけれど、全体にとにかく華やかなので星５つ！

しばらく買うのをやめていたのだが、スリーピースになってからの作品がかなり良く、特に WILD FANTASY は最高！なので（試しに）５人バンド時代のラストを買ってみた。
予想通りだった。。。　曲を選んで聞けば、かなーり良いアルバムと言える。個人的には３・５・８・１０を聞くとシアワセになれる。（全体的には、お薦めしない。）
