初心に帰り、自身のプロデュースのもと、ツアー・メンバーを中心としたミュージシャンたちと、より手作り感の強い形で制作されたアルバム。恵比寿で行なわれたライヴで拍手喝采された曲も収録。

今年の1月で、デビューから丸23年を数えるベテランの最新オリジナル・アルバム。ピアノによる「プロローグ」に続いて飛び出してくる「一途」のニール・ヤングばりのイントロにまずびっくり。しかし、歌が聴こえてくるとそこはもうセイム・オールドな、あの千春ワールドだ。思えば、この人の音楽って23年前にはすでに完成されていたんだなあ、と思わず感心してしまった。千春のバック・バンドのキーボード奏者でもあるプロデューサーの夏目一朗も、ボサ・ノヴァ、ツイスト、70年代風AOR、チェイスを思わせるブラス・ロック――と、次から次にサウンドの目先を変え、アルバム全体のメリハリをつけるいい仕事をしている。曲によっては、明らかにヴォーカルがアレンジについていけてないところもあったりするのだが、それも愛嬌と思えばむしろほほえましい。ただ個人的には、生ギター1本と装飾的な管楽器のみで歌われる「君って何だろう」のほうが、まるで初期の千春みたいで楽しめた。 (星野吉男) --- 2000年06月号
