リアル・ゴダイゴ世代で、当時のＬＰレコードはほとんど持っていたものの、
ＣＤ時代に突入してから買い換えるわけでもなく、年を取ってきました。
最近MONKEY MAGIC と言うバンドが出てきて、
彼らがゴダイゴに影響を受けているということから私も懐かしく思い、このベスト版を購入。

数あるベスト版からこれを選んだ理由は
TRY TO WAKE UP TO A MORNING
が収録されているから、これに尽きます。
これに「ハピネス｣が入っていれば本当に申し分なかったのですが、それは仕方ないでしょう。

ゴダイゴが流行っていた頃、私は小学高学年から中学生の頃でした。
ゴダイゴを好きになったからこそ、英語の勉強が全く苦ではありませんでした。
「日本人でも、こんな風に英語でしゃべったり、唄ったりできるようになるんだ」とも思いましたし、
ゴダイゴの曲でずいぶん英語も覚えました。
今でも使えるイディオム満載（笑）
実はとても簡単な表現なので、1曲覚えれば英語の発音の練習にもなります。
特におススメなのが"TRY TO WAKE UP TO A MORNING"です。

音楽性については、私はあまり専門的なことは分からないのですが、
当時は軽快なポップ・ロックと言う感じがして、大変斬新だったのですが、
現代の「音」に慣れてしまっている人たちには、薄く感じるかもしれません。
でも、当時のゴダイゴを知らない人たちにも、ゴダイゴの曲に込められるメッセージを
聞き取って欲しいと思います。
単なるドラマ主題歌・挿入歌、映画音楽、ＣＭソングではなく、
ゴダイゴの曲には世界観・地球観が込められているので、そこを感じられればと思います。

期間限定（３ヶ月間）で再結成したゴダイゴ
当時のヒット曲と新曲を織り交ぜたベスト盤なのですが
ファンの間で人気の高いアルバム曲が入っていたり
あの代表曲があえて英語バージョンで収録されていたりと
ファンが自分用に好きな曲を集めて作ったテープのような
曲目構成でしっかりツボを押さえたお勧めの１枚

ジャケットカバーをご覧下さい。ゴダイゴ全盛期の彼らと、そして現在の彼らの絵が描いてあるでしょう？（マツバラケンジさんという方の作品だそうです）これだけでも私には宝物☆大概の写真及びイラストは全盛期のゴダイゴのものですが、最後のページ「ニュー・バージョン・ビューティフル・ネーム」の歌詞のバックには、在のゴダイゴの写真が載っています。タケカワユキヒロさんはテレビにゲストででていらっしゃいますね。ふっくらとしたお顔立ちになられて(笑）逆にミッキ―吉野さんは痩せられましたね。スティーブ・フォックスさんは宣教師になっちゃったし、浅野タクミさんは今どこへで音楽学校を経営されているはず。トミー・シュナイーさんは何やってるんだろう？(どなたか教えてくださいな）

おっと、ＣＤのレビューだっけ♪10の「トライ・トゥ・ウエイク・アップ・インザ・モーニング」11の「はるかな旅へ」15の「ジャヴァ・ア・ジャヴァ」16の「ビューティフル・ネーム」17の「ひさしぶりマイフレンド」(←この日本語のタイトルダサい・・・）が好きです。「御国」はいかにもミッキ―吉野さんらしい。途中メンバーが変わったりしましたけどやっぱりこの５人が私の好きな「ゴダイゴ」です。
