　塩田美奈子は、日本語で歌うことにこだわっている歌手です。確かに、日本語で歌う方がメッセージはよく伝わるでしょうが、不自然なイントネーションの日本語で聴くくらいなら、意味の分からない原語の方がマシだと思ったりします。でも、その点はご安心を。作詞家の人も、うまくなったもんです。

　このアルバムでは、スキャットで歌っているものが大半を占めていますが、日本語の歌詞をつけて歌っているものもあります。ロドリーゴの「恋のアランフェス」やショパンの「別れの曲」なんかは、いかにもそれらしい歌詞なので、初めて耳にする歌詞でも驚いたりしませんが、モーツァルトの「ピアノ協奏曲第２１番ハ長調ＫＶ４６７」の第２楽章の有名なメロディ（「短くも美しく燃え」などの映画音楽でおなじみの曲）に歌詞をつけて歌ってもらうと、なんだか新鮮な驚きが味わえます。
　塩田さんの歌をじっくり聴くもよし、ドライブのお供にするもよし、ＢＧＭに使うもよし、とにかくどんな使い方でもできるアルバムです。

クラシカル・クロスオーバーというのでしょうか？最近、元々声楽曲ではないクラシックを歌うアルバムが目につくけれど、やっぱりきちんと声楽を学んだ人は違うと感じるアルバム。オペラのようにフルボイスを響かせるばかりではないけれど、ドラマティックでもあり、また、BGMなどで聞き覚えのある曲が多いのも、入って行きやすいと思います。
