どこかで、談志師が八方師のことを評して「タイガースの話さえしなければ八方は上手い」と褒めていたと読んだことがあります。このCDを聞くと、八方師はもはやタイガース・ファンであることで笑いを取る必要ないレベルまで「上手い」噺家さんになっていると感じさせられます。収録は83・85年ですから、20年以上前のことになります。それから現在までの間に相当数の高座をこなされているでしょうに、発売されている音源の少ないこと！

坊主茶屋は八方師の十八番、何度聞いても面白い。これだけではなく、もっと色々な、タイガースではない噺を聞きたいと思います。

評価ですが、お吉物語の方でやたらと「タイガース・ネタ」を連発していることから1つ差し引きました。同じ熱烈な阪神ファンでも先代の春蝶師はここまで露骨なネタのフリ方はしていなかったような気がします。。。
