　ヤマトで島倉千代子が歌うと当時話題になったのが懐かしい。デスラーの苦悩と哀愁を切なく奏でるギターは、演歌で慣らす偉大なギタリスト木村好夫。
　宮川泰はこのアルバムでは、シンセサイザーとピアノを効果的に使うなどかなり意欲的な作曲をしている。自動惑星ゴルバとの破滅的な大戦争を描くシーンでは、デスラー、ゴルバ、ヤマトのテーマが一斉に絡み合うように演奏されるなど、背筋がゾクゾクするような曲作りが聴きどころ。胸をしめつけるようなギターソロも素晴らしい。

前作（ヤマト２）の白色彗星帝国はパイプオルガンを駆使した曲でした。

この「新たなる旅立ち」に登場する敵、暗黒星団帝国にはシンセサイザーを使っています。

それだけではなく、ピアノ、ギターも使い、新しいヤマトの音楽を作り出すことに成功しています。

作品の中心人物であるデスラーの心情を表現した曲もあり、どれもすばらしい音楽です。

デスラーやゴルバの曲が多い反面、このＣＤではヤマト自体の曲が少ないので欲を言えば、

他のＣＤに収録されている「大戦争」なども収録してほしかったと思います。

曲数は少ないものの「ゴルバのテーマ」はまさに至高の１曲ですので、ぜひ聴いてください。

このＣＤは現在、廃盤になっていますが再販版が発売されています。

そちらは、デジタルリマスターが施され音質が良く、値段も安いです。

ヤマトを愛する全ての人に再販版をおすすめします。
