『ヤマト』の音楽スタッフ宮川泰のモチーフをもとに羽田健太郎が新たに作曲した四楽章を,NHK交響楽団が五反田簡易保険ホールで好演。その時の模様を収録した84年リリースの作品を初CD化。壮大なスケールで繰り広げられる演奏が宇宙へと誘う。

　これは凄い！！あのNHK交響楽団がヤマトをやったのである。四部構成で成り立っているが、これは良い｡重厚さがそれまでのものも良かったが、ものがものだけに厚みも何時もより余計に厚く感じます｡マァ、ヤマトを知らない人に聴かせても、チョットやそっとでは分からないかも｡分かったとしても、その重厚さに「アニメ」という偏見が吹っ飛ぶでしょう｡これほどアニメ音楽が本格的クラシック音楽として成り立っていた！！という事実が意外と知られていない｡ヤマトは本当に音楽に力を入れた作品である｡ヤマトの音楽はそのストーリー以上に高く評価されることがよくある｡作詞といい作曲といい、とんでもない人たちが作り上げてますよね｡「よくもマァこんな豪華メンバーが・・・」と。それにこの作品はN響です。N響によるヤマトですよ｡！凄いですよ！！第一楽章から第四楽章まで、聴きごたえあります。どれもいいです。一番乗りがいいのは第二楽章「戦い」でしょう｡第四楽章のラスト、徳永氏のヴァイオリンのソロは凄ーい！！聴きごたえありすぎ。
　それにＤＶＤのほうはアニメ映像が挿入されていますが、これが結構良くて，オリジナルの映像を加工してあるんです。これが意外と知られてませんが，良いんです。綺麗なんです。特に第二楽章の「戦い」は主にコスモタイガーの飛行シーンで編集されてあるのですが、これがナカナカ良いんです。これを観た後オリジナルを観ると「地味ーっ…」と感じるほどです。それにコスモタイガーのカッコいいシーンばかり繋げてあるから，ノリの良い曲調と相まってこれがいい!!オリジナルを更に綺麗にしてある。ヤマトの音楽好きな人は多分好きだと思うんだけどナァ・・・

　ど演歌なヤマトがここまでクラシックになるとは、という軽い驚きの一枚。但し、「交響曲」と銘打ってはいるが、本来の交響曲の構成ではない。

クラシックに詳しく無くてもヤマトファンなら重厚で濃密な音楽を十分楽しめる、と思います。これがいわゆる「正統派」なら対極は「ディスコ」アレンジバージョンでしょうか?残念ながらこちらはレコードのみ発売です。切にCD化を望みます(T_T)ぜひ同じヤマト音楽同士、聞き比べしてみたいものです。
