編曲は今ではすっかり有名になった久石譲氏、手書き楽譜のコピーが練習場に直前に１曲ずつ届くというギリギリで、合唱団員は読みにくいとブツブツ言っていました。録音は大阪厚生年金会館で２日がかりでヘトヘトになりましたが、完成したレコードを聴いてプロの録音はスゴイなぁと皆感心したものです。コロンビアの売り上げ予想を少し上回りレコードに続きカセットテープや楽譜も発売されて、合唱団にはボーナスも頂きました。ヤマトのレコードは多種出ましたけれど、器楽ばかりで声を使ったのはこれがはじめての企画でした。同志社学生混声合唱団はバッハ・モーツァルト・ブラームスなどの教会音楽を得意とする正統派、厚みのある響きが持ち味で、コロンビアはかなり探し回ったそうです。主題歌は佐々木功さん、エンドは沢田研二さんが歌い、日本人なら知らない人はいないほどの大ヒット曲ですが、合唱のアレンジは更にいいナと感じさせます。

ヤマトの曲はどれもとてもすばらしく、手元においておきたい1枚です。

しかし、中古でもとても高くててがだせません。

35周年が40周年記念にはぜひ、廃盤になっている音楽の復刻をしてほしいです。

もし、気軽に買える値段であれば、多くの人に聴いていただきたいＣＤです。
