Ｍ-１「君の瞳に恋してる」（邦題）いいです！最高です♪ボーイズ・タウン・ギャングのカバーを聞いて、オリジナルを是非聞いてみたいと探しまくって手に入れた甲斐がありました｡１フレーズごとに問いかけるような甘い歌声でとろけてしまいそうです｡ 歌に心が入ってます｡彼の歌声に酔いしれながら、穏やかで素敵な時間を過ごせる１枚です｡

ローリン・ヒルやボーイズ・タウン・ギャングのカバーでおなじみ
「君の瞳に恋してる」(Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You)の
オリジナルが、収録されてます。
この一曲聞きたさに買っても、その価値はあるかも。
ダンサブルなカバーとは違って、イントロのゆったりとした
テンポ、そしてサビ部分でもりあがる熱さに、ぐっときます。

（そういえば椎名林檎もカバーしてますが、何かのインタビューで
フランキー・ヴァリのバージョンが一番好きと言ってました。）

ちなみにそれ以外の曲も、声がいいから聴きやすくて、
意外におトクなアルバムだと思います。

最近何故かは分からないが、最近私と私の周りではBOY'S TOWN GANGの80's hit disco number "CAN'T TAKE MY EYES OFF YOU"が大流行りである。で、この曲にoriginalがあると聞き、急いでこのアルバムを購入した。このCDを購入したとき、はっきり言ってフランキー・ヴァリなる人物は私にとって初耳であり、どんな音を作り出しているのか皆目検討がつかないまま、えいとばかりに清水の舞台から飛び降りる気持ちであった。

　で、CDが手元に届いて早速聴いてみると、現在の文脈に照らし合わせて悪くないのである。本来の目的であった1)はもちろんのこと、その他の曲も悪くない。当初BTGのようなイケイケの音楽を想定していたのであるが、実際はそうではなく、全編にわたりいかにも60'sといった甘い香りを漂わせているのである。

　このノリは、おそらく80'sの文脈の中にあれば、おそらくは簡単に否定されてしまっていたと思う。しかし、それからさらに20年を経て、われわれの感覚が当時に回帰することによってこれほどまでに時代にマッチするようになったのだろう。

　ともあれ、40年近く前の曲がメインですが、40年前の曲だからこそ今旬の一枚といえるのではないでしょうか。
