日本のフォーク名曲を洋楽ロックの名曲と融合させた企画盤です。例えば「夢の中へ」は、ディープパープルの「ハイウェースター」のイントロから始まり、ボーカル部分に入ると「探しものはなんですかー」。神田川はレッドツェッペリンの「天国への階段」との合わせ技で、意外と相性が良かったりします。ただ、洋楽のフレーズ部分はオリジナルの演奏よく似せてあるけれど、音はショボショボなのが難です。とはいえ、名曲+名曲なので、あまりにひどい曲はありません。このＣＤで聴いたことをきっかけに、これまで聴いたことのない洋楽へのとっかかりができたのはいいことでした。

　"Highway Star"風の演奏をバックに「夢の中へ」を、"Black Night"風の演奏をバックに「22才の別れ」を歌う、という感じの構成。冗談音楽に分類されるんでしょうけど、バックの演奏はまずまずしっかりしています。「天国への階段」風の「神田川」には思わず笑ってしまいました。繰り返し聴くには疲れるかもしれないけど、ロック・ファンには楽しい一枚です。70年代の音楽を好きで、王様や女王様、ラトルズ、パンクルズなどを愛する方々には楽しめること請合います。

ワハハハー、これぞバカ。帯のコピーはこんな具合です。

「70年代洋楽ロックと日本のフォークが丸コピで合体した隠れた名盤。深紫、飛行船、鷲達も真っ青！！」

　王様の直訳日本語カバーブームに便乗して発売されたシロモノ、1995年作。想像つくとは思いますが、タイトルとジャケットはイーグルスのホテル・カリフォルニアをパロってます。見にくいでしょうが、ジャケ写は純和風旅館（笑）。内容は70年代の洋楽ロックのスタンダードの演奏にフォークの名曲がかぶさるというとんでもない迷作です。最後まで聴き終わった後の感想は…果てしなく悲しい。だってボーカルがイマイチだし、もうダサダサ。コンセプトは悪くないんだけどな〜。けど癖になったりして。
