『他人から見たらおかしなことにいかに心血を注ぎ込み、華麗に人生を損ねる事ができるか？』そんな、昨日も明日もない刹那的な瞬間に人生の全てを賭ける事の出きるスリルこそがロックンロールのかっこ良さの本質だと思う。そしてそんな本質を見事なまでに体現してくれたのがレッド・ウォーリア-ズだった。「ロイヤル・ストレート・フラッシュ・ロックンロール」だなんて、一歩間違えばダサダサのロック賛歌だが、周りからカッコワルイと揶揄されるようなことも、真正面から堂々ストレートにやってしまえばかっこよさに転じてしまうパラドックス。もう一歩突っ込んだらただのジョークにしかならないような直球スタイルで、暑苦しくなく、自分たちを嗤う余裕もみせつつ、時には一瞬マジになったりしつつ、スケールのでかいロックをプレイしてくれたバンドだった。
“本気かジョークか、ロックなんてたかがそんなもん、ついでに言やぁ人生も！”・・・そんなメッセージが今も聴こえてくる。

レッド・ウォーリアーズのベスト・アルバム。
トップ・テンで『サンディ・サンシャイン』を観た時は子供心にショックを受けたのを覚えてます。
聴いた事のない曲調やギター音、全てが新鮮でした。（まあ、音楽そのものすら知らなかったんですけど）
ギター・ソロでのトーキング・モジュレーターがかっこいい『シスター』、自分の周りでも人気のある『ルシアンヒルの上で』、メロディが耳に残る『バースディ・ソング』など代表曲が入ってます。
また収録秘話や当時の背景（小暮武彦さんの『アウトサイダー』への思いなど）についてのライナーもあって深く聴けます。（ただ個人的には『欲望のドア』も入れてほしかった）
（余談ですが最近、テレビでダイアモンド☆ユカイさんをよく見かけますね・・・）

　日本のロックバンドと聞いて皆さんは誰を思い浮かべますか？聖飢魔II？ＲＣサクセション？キャロル？ま~挙げればキリが無いですが僕はこれです。通称レッズと呼ばれた彼らの無骨さを知って欲しい。おかげさまで、これはベスト版だもの、どこから聞いてもランダムで聞いても、きっとそれは凄くロックンロールなはず！こんなバンドが無くなっちゃった日本の音楽界には・・・はぁぁぁぁと溜息が出ちゃうような、甘~~い匂いのするロックバンドがたくさんいて・・・悲しいな~~~。
