多分20代以上の人には懐かしい,ゴダイゴのベスト・ヒット。しかも英語ヴァージョン。当時から英語で歌う部分も知られていたので,まったく違和感はない。当時はわりと練られた厚みのあるサウンドという印象があったのだが,意外にシンプルなのを再認識。

レビューで「歌詞はめちゃくちゃだった」と書いてるかたがいますが、誤解を招いてますよ！
「英語でしゃべらナイト」で言っていたのはタケカワさん自身の作詞のことで、ゴダイゴの歌詞のことではありません。
実際にゴダイゴの歌に使われているのは、「百万人の英語」でも有名だった奈良橋陽子さんが作詞したものです。

　子供の時に聴いた”モンキー・マジック”は、そのキャッチーなポップさに夢中になったけど、大人になってバンドを始めてから聴いた”モンキー・マジック”の演奏力の高さには、ビビってしまった事を覚えています。　

　キース・エマーソンばりのキーボード、テクニカルなドラミング、ファンク・テイストのグルーヴィーなベース、歯切れの良いカッティングのギター、日本人離れした発音のヴォーカル等、高い演奏力にも是非注目してほしい。

７０年代に生まれた方なら、思わず口ずんでしまう名曲が満載。
１６曲目「Monkey　Magic」でマチャアキの孫悟空、夏目雅子の三蔵法師が頭の中にフィードバックすること間違いなし！
２０年前のものとは思えない斬新さが魅力。しかも今回は英語バージョン、タケカワユキヒデ（Vo）の魅力がさらに際立ってます。

ゴダイゴが懐かしい方にも、ゴダイゴを知らない方にも是非是非聴いていただきたい好盤です。
