作品の持つ淡々とした影にセンスのデジタル・サウンドが妙に表情を与えてくれている。恐らくアコースティックな楽器をアクセントに使ったせいなのだろう。ここらへんのインスピレーションはちょっと他じゃ真似できない。以外と見直してしまったぞい。

実は悲情城市のビデオを探していた検索結果で出てきたＣＤを買ったわけですが、最初曲で映像が蘇えってきました。映画や音だけで過去の出来事を深く理解することはむずかしいかもしれませんが、何かのきっかけになると思います。本当に美しい音楽なので、それだけでも楽しめる価値ある一枚ではないでしょうか。

日本のインストゥルメンタル・ユニット：S.E.N.S.（センス）が音楽を担当した、映画「悲情城市」（ひじょうじょうし）のサウンドトラック。映画自体は、ヴェネチア国際映画祭で金獅子賞（グランプリ）に輝くなど、大きな話題となった。しかし、音楽の方は、ヒットした記憶はない。中国大陸らしい旋律というだけで、特に名曲でもないテーマと、少ない曲数により、センス・ファンでも持っている人は多くない。

しかし、このアルバムには、1曲、隠れた名曲が収録されている。それが、M-3.「文清のテーマ」である。勝木ゆかりの、クラシカルなピアノ・ソロ曲。哀しく流麗な旋律は、主題曲以上の存在感。知る人ぞ知る曲である。

その証拠に、10年以上経ったある日、「2時間サスペンス」で、事実上のテーマ曲として、全面的にフィーチャーされたこともある。

録音レベルが小さく、当時はウォークマンで音量調整するのが面倒だった記憶があるが、今はパソコンがある。ノーマライズして最大化すればOK。良い時代になったものだ。とは言え、公式リマスターをお願いしたいなぁ。
