　　ボウリングの「ナイン・フレーム（第9フレーム）」は，一般に「ファンデーション・フレーム」とよばれる。「テン・フレーム（第10フレーム）」では，最多で3回の投球が可能であるため，第9フレームにおけるストライクいかんによっては「大逆転」の可能性がでてくることに由来するのだろう。直訳すれば，「基礎（土台）となるフレーム」というところだろう。なかなか印象的な名称ではないだろうか。

　　さて歌手としても圧倒的な人気を誇る福山雅治の記念碑的作品が，10枚目のマキシシングルHelloであることはよく知られている。8センチ版のCDから，マキシシングルへの転換が本曲によって実現した。その当時，187万枚のセールスを記録した（最高のセールスは235万枚の「桜坂」だ）。ドラマの主題歌として使われ，彼の名を一気に高めた作品であることに間違いない。多くの出演番組で必ずといっていいほどHelloを歌う。「愛着」も十二分に感じられる。「盛り上げ曲」として彼のなかで不動の位置を占めているのだろう。誕生日の2月6日の26歳に発売したこだわりぶりだ。

　　ただわたしとしては，この前に発売された第9枚目のシングルIt’s Only Loveを，いわば彼の「ファンデーション・ソング」として注目したい。恋愛を終えた男の切なくも儚い心情を赤裸々に綴った歌詞はじんと心に響く。「愛だけは忘れたはずさ　君のこと忘れたいよ」。今はなき恋人を忘れようとするが，容易には忘れられない。痛いほどよくその男の気持ちが分かる。これは女性目線で歌った徳永英明のデビューソングの「レイニー・ブルー」と通じるものがある。第5枚目のGood Night，そして第8枚目のAll My Lovingの2曲目の曲「恋人」につらなる名曲バラードだ。この曲あっての今の福山雅治であるとわたしは信じたい。アルバムに収録されたその他の名曲バラード（Dearなど）も多い。

失恋して、悲しみを認めたくなくて、強がってしまう自分。なのに忘れられない人・思い。 誰もが共感できる素直な歌詞と、爽やかで壮大なメロディー!!オリコンで1位をとったことも納得です☆ 福山雅治の本業はやっぱりミュージシャンですよねっ♪

ある日、友人から「これ聴いてみて」と言われて、この「IT'S ONLY LOVE」を聴いたら、とても感動しました。
福山さんの曲は「虹」か「桜坂｣ぐらいしか聴いたことがなかったのですが、昔の曲も良いですね。
