アルバムを通して、夜風に吹かれ、波打ち際寄せる波音を聞き、海面にちらつく月の光がきらめくハワイの風景が目に浮かぶようで、オールドスタイルのRayのSlack Key Guitarが心地よく響きます。Rayの作品だけでなく、トルデイショナルも聴くことができ、エデイ・カマエの作品（Morning Dew）も素晴らしいです。又、ギターだけでなく、しわがれていながらも表情豊かにに良く響くRayのボーカルも素晴らしいです。１１曲目Hawaii Alohaはハワイで最も有名な賛美歌であるといわれています。このアルバムバージョンではRayのリード・ボーカルに妻のElodiaが参加しサンフランシスコ・ナヘナヘ合唱団がバックに加わって雰囲気を盛り上げています。

又、アルバムタイトルでもあるPunaheleはRayの最も有名な作品であり、他のミュージシャンにも多くレコーデイングされている作品です。「ハンマー・オン」「プル・オフ」奏法が美しく効果的に用いられてGワヒネ・チューニング（D G D F# B D）サウンドが心地よく響きます。
