福山雅治という男は実に不思議な魅力をもった人間であると思う。メディアを通じての露出が多いとは決していえない。むしろ少ないといったほうがいい。ドラマの主役からも遠ざかっている（私の記憶では、松嶋菜々子との共演で注目を集めた「美女か野獣」が一番最近のドラマ主演か）。それでも「好きな男」（アンアン）では常連の2位をキープしている。これは私が大学生の頃から全く変わっていない。露出が少ないにもかかわらず（逆にそれがいい効果を生んでいるのかしれない）、人気が全く衰えない芸能人なんて、男では彼くらいではないのか（女性では山口智子あたりか）。その福山雅治の第10作品目が本シングルであり、187万枚のセールスを記録した作品である。ドラマ「最高の恋人」の主題歌に採用された曲でもある。歌詞カードの写真は鳥取砂丘で撮影されたものであり（たしか撮影者は、福山が尊敬してやまない上田先生）、この頃から福山雅治は「写真」にも目覚めてゆくのである。そんな多面的な才能を遺憾なく発揮している彼の記念碑的作品を味わってみよう。本作品は福山が26歳の誕生日である2月6日に発売したというこだわりの一品なのだから・・・。
