竹内まりやの結婚前に所属していたレーベルのベストである。
このベストは、そもそも結婚して一時期休業している竹内まりやの、
販促ベストと発売されて、「BEST PACK」とは、
当時RCAレーベルが出していた、
所属アーチストの一括ベストアルバムのタイトルである。
しかし、そういう「企画ものベスト」なのに、
収録曲のバランスや内容が実にいい。
たぶん、本人はおろか現在、最大のプロデューサーである、
山下達郎氏の手も加えられていないと思うわれるが、
おそらく、レーベル側が作ったベストとしては、
秀逸の出来だと思う。
しかもこのベストは、他のアルバムから持ってきたジングルや、
コアなファンなら「アレ？」っと思えるようなミックスの手法も、
ばっちり入っている。
また、作家陣も当時としては、かなり豪華で、
竹内まりやが、自分で書き出す前の作品として、
今の魅力とは違う面も、ばっちり引き出されている。
余談だが、アンルイスが桑名正博と結婚した際に贈られた
「リンダ」が、セルフカバーされているが、
これは、ワーナーレーベル側のベスト「Impressions」に入っている「リンダ」と、
同じアレンジ・同じコーラス・同じスタジオミュージシャン・同じミックス手法での、
全く違う時期のレコーディング曲である。

「不思議なピーチパイ」は確か･･･マリアンがモデルの資生堂の化粧品のＣＭソングでしたね。また「ドリーム・オブ・ユー~レモンライムの青い風」はサントリーＰＯＰという清涼飲料水のＣＭソングでした。昭和53年頃だったでしょうか？当時の「ザ・ベストテン」の今週のスポットライトとして、竹内まりあさんが、ピンクのスーツ姿で、「♪不思議なピーチパイ」を歌った時は、まだ小学生でしたが、とっても素敵な彼女に憧れました。「セプテンバー」も懐かしいですね。
