XJAPANで知られ、マスコミにも叩かれてしまった彼だが、その音楽性、その歌声はホンモノだ。

彼を叩く前に、この歌声を、聞いて欲しい。

きっと心に染み渡る何かがあるはずだ。それは人によっては幸せかもしれないし、ある人にしてみれば、空虚の悲しみかもしれない。

TOSHIの持つ声は不思議だ。時に人の心を突き刺す刺激的なロックにもなり、時に優しく人を切りつける、鋭く儚い、バラードにもなる。TOSHIの声は何かしら、人に感じさせるものがある。

このアルバムでは、正に森の中にいるかのような壮大さと共に、何処か虚しく切ない気持にさせる空気を持っている。無感情で聞けばそれは刺激の少ない優しい旋律かもしれない。しかし、聞き込めば聞き込むほど、闇に飲み込まれるような錯覚さえ起こす。特に＃２のBirthday eve、これほどに私は彼のソロ作品で胸が痛くなったことがあっただろうか。気付けば涙が出ている。
彼のポジティブ、そしてネガティブ。二面性が見える一枚である。

悲しみにしろ喜びにしろ怒りにしろ……TOSHIは人の心に襞に触れる、そんな声の持ち主だ。

蕪村の本を買った折、本屋の片隅で見つけました。屋久島の写真が聞く心を捕まえたようです。心にしみる作品。優しさと情熱、明るさと深い闇、苦悩。美しく誠実な歌唱と民俗音楽のようなサウンドが一つに解けた、癒しのハーモニー。肩肘を張って頑張りすぎていた固くなさが解けていきます。見失ったものを取り戻すひと時に聞かせてもらっています。

このアルバムを聴いた直後に自然と涙が出ました。
あぁ、Ｔｏｓｈｉはとうとう自分の進む道を見つけたんだな、と。そしてその道はＸとはまったく別の道であることも。。

このアルバムは既にＴｏｓｈｉが傾倒していたヒーリングミュージックのエッセンスが散りばめられ、“ＸのＴｏｓｈｉ”のソロアルバムという趣では完全になくなっています。
そして、このアルバムに収録された楽曲の歌詞が、彼の進む道を示しています。彼は、彼の信じる素直な愛を歌いたかった。（その結論を彼が言葉にできるまで、このアルバムの後かなり時間がかかりましたが）ストレートな愛の歌詞は多少恥ずかしく感じますが、それを歌詞にして歌うのは大変な勇気がいる事だと。そしてそれはもはやＸとはまったく異なる世界であり、そのことにこのアルバムで気づかされてしまいました。

このアルバム自体はとても素晴らしく、Ｔｏｓｈｉの最大の魅力である声を活かしたメロウで切ない曲の数々が収められ、美しく儚くＴｏｓｈｉの声が胸に突き刺さります。特にガイアの祈りでは荘厳な雰囲気の中、鳥肌ものの歌唱が聴けます。
