とりあえず説明不要な一枚でしょう。
MOBB DEEPの2ndアルバムにして彼等の名前をシーンにとどろかせた今作。
今から遡ること10年前のアルバムですが、ここに収められた音、ラップの鋭さ、冷徹さは一向に衰えることなく、これぞクイーンズフレイヴァーなのか、と感慨深くなります。
今となっては考えられないQ-TIPが提供した3曲はこの殺伐とした雰囲気のなかでオアシス的な存在感を放ち、"Survival Of The Fittest"から代名詞"Shook Ones Pt. II"〜"party over"まで一定の緊張感が常に聞き手を包みます。

"ILLMATIC"や"ENTHER THE WU-TANG"、"DA SHININ'"に通ずるこの時代の空気、そして唯一無二の温度の低さを秘めた永遠のクラシック。

ハヴォック、プロディジーのリリシズムも絶好調なので対訳を是非。

放送禁止用語を殆ど使わずに、黒く、残酷なプロジェクトの世界を描く。それこそ本物のハードコア・ヒップホップだ。その類似品が数多く存在してきたが、前述した本物のハードコア・ヒップホップを体現しているのはおそらくこのMobb Deepくらいなものだろう。格好良いとかそういう言葉ではモノ足りないくらいの素晴らしさがある。最近ではG-UNIT入りしたりと何かと話題の多い彼らだが、今後どんなアルバムを何枚出そうとも、おそらくこの2ndは超えられないんじゃないかと思う、特にN.Y.ヒップホップの最高傑作とも称される15番は必聴。

僕は少々ラップ通でMOBB DEEPのことを知ったのはNBAプレイヤーのケビン・ガーネットがMOBB DEEPを聴いてる、聞いてガーネットファンの僕は彼らの傑作と言われるこのアルバムを購入しました。
良いです。曲全体ラップでは欠かせないDJあまりが聞こえないが、ノリがいいです。
特に3曲目の“Survival OfThe Fittest”は暗いリズムながらも犯罪的な雰囲気が漂い自然に好きになります。他にもいい曲が収録されているけど、やはり3曲目が最高っすね。
このアルバムは全国のHIP HOP野郎は一回は聴かなきゃならんですね。
聴いてくれ。
