なんて優しい声なんでしょう。この人がいるから私も生きていこうと思った時期があります。私みたいなファンが世界中にいるんでしょうね。「ニューヨーク」をリリースしたときの来日コンサートへ行ったら、パンク少年がルーを見るなり「先生！」と絶叫していました。本作でカムバックするためにルーはドラックを断ち、シルビアという女性と結婚しました。ルーのアルバムはリアルすぎて覚悟を決めないと最後まで聞けないものが多いのですが（そこが大好きなんです）このアルバムに関しては、私の場合ブルーな気分のときも、エゴの塊になっているときも気持ちよく聞けます。ロバート・クインのギターも良いですよ。

AOR的なサウンドに傾倒していたルー・リードは、この作品をきっかけに本来のストレートでラフなロックへ回帰する。
彼をして「クレイジー」といわしめたロバート・クインの変態ギターに、自身のギターをもってガチンコで答える圧巻なタイトルナンバーをはじめとして、「アイ・ラブ・ウーマン」と意外な逆カミングアウトをする2、夫人に捧げた感動的な10など佳曲がずらりとならぶ。
発表から20年余がすぎたが、いまだ色あせない生々しさがある。
