浅野ゆう子といえば誰しもトレンディ女優としての名声を想像するでしょう。しかし、彼女も若かりし頃（１３歳にデビュー！）はアイドル歌手として、一応の成功は収めていました。
このアルバムは彼女のこうした‘足跡’をたどるベスト集です。
代表作は、もちろん７６年の「セクシー・バス・ストップ」でしょう。原曲の良さは言うまでもないのですが、リコーダーの快い響きや和風の味付け、絶妙なアレンジ、彼女の艶のあるボーカル、これらが見事に溶け合って結集した超名曲です。それだけにとどまらず、デビュー曲「とびだせ初恋」のさわやかさや、とりわけ「恋はダンダン」のテンポ良いメロディも決して忘れ去られるようなナンバーではないと思います。歌は決して上手くはなかったかもしれませんが、アップテンポのポップスにはなぜかよく似合っていた声だと思います。もちろん、その後の女優への転進は自然な成り行きでしょうが、私には想い出深い歌手でもありました。
なお、「セクシー・バス・ストップ」のヒットにより、この曲は本国アメリカにも紹介され、同年彼女はアメリカのラジオ局に招かれました。そして、本番で彼女は同曲の他、当時の新曲「ムーンライト・タクシー」を西海岸地方に発信したのです。
知られざるエピソードとしてここに付け加えておきます。

同世代の小生としては「ひとりぼっちの季節」がおすすめです。少女の切ない乙女心がよく表現されています。また、「恋はダンダン」もリズムがよく、覚えやすい曲でおすすめです。

浅野ゆう子が歌手だったなんて知らない人が多いのでは、私の好きな曲は「セクシーバスストップ」です。確かこれは、外国のグループが歌っていたのをカバーしたと記憶していますが、今でも十分カラオケで歌えますので、盛り上がるかも。浅野ゆう子の同年代の人が聞けば間違いなく喜びますよ。
