実際に観たのはもう8年も昔になるわけだが,このサントラを聴くと映画のイメージが鮮明に甦ってくる…ということはつまり,マイケル・ケイメンによる音楽の出来も良かったのだ…と今さらながら納得。まあテーマ・ナンバーは元曲の良さも大きいのだけれど。

近未来？のとある国。管理の行き届いたコンピュータ社会の中で、情報省記録局の役人が叩き潰したハエによる印刷ミスでテロリスト「タトル」と善良な一市民「バトル」が間違って逮捕される。主人公のサムは処理を任されるが…
と、これがこのＣＤの音楽が使われている映画の大まかなストーリーです。

ちなみに｢未来世紀ブラジル｣の「ブラジル」とはテーマに使われている陽気な楽曲のこと。
特に映画のなかでどんなシーンにも使われているこの曲は絶品です。
暗い時も、楽しい時も、ピンチの時も、ラストの瞬間までこの曲が使われています。
明るいサンバのリズムにのって映画の細部までを思い出すことができます。

是非映画を堪能した後にじっくりと聞いてみてはいかがでしょうか？

映画を見ていない方にはこのアルバムは意味がないですね。私の最も好きな(？)映画の一つです。B級炸裂ですが、凄いです。

ブラジルという国は全然関係ないのですが、有名なブラジル・サンバが全体を覆っています。さまざまなアレンジであらゆる場面で流れます。管理社会のカフカ的不気味さを見せるストーリーに、陽気なブラジル・サンバ…。特にラストの使い方は、絶妙だと思います。

個人的には、情報省の広大なオフィスをぐーっとカメラが進んで、軽快なリズムと相まって異様な雰囲気を見事に出している1曲目が好きです。

＃BGM的に聴くには収録時間が短いのでは？と思います。

サントラで聴くとその曲が使われていたシーンを強烈に思い出します。
音質はビデオよりいいと思いますので、お勧めのCDです。
＃安いですし。

邦題の「未来世紀~」の未来世紀ってのはダサいと思ってるのは私だけでしょうか？
ただの「ブラジル」の方がいろんな人に見てもらえるような気がします。

映画製作時の顛末記が出版されています。
＃いろいろごたごたがあったんですね。
